JetBlue the Airport Dog Officially Adopted by the Officer Who Rescued Him
In a full-circle ending that has the internet in tears, "JetBlue" — the 2-year-old goldendoodle/mini poodle mix who was abandoned at Las Vegas's Harry Reid International Airport — has been officially adopted by LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black, one of the very officers who helped rescue him three weeks ago.
From Abandoned to Beloved
JetBlue's story began on February 2nd, when he was found abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport. The young, friendly dog quickly captured hearts — and the story went viral. More than 2,400 adoption applications flooded in from across the country.
But fate had something special in store. Officer Skeeter Black and his family had been working since September 2025 to adopt a goldendoodle through Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. They'd already completed the full approval process months before JetBlue even arrived at the airport.
🐕 JetBlue's Journey
- Feb 2: Found abandoned at Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas
- Feb 2-19: Story goes viral — 2,400+ adoption applications received
- Feb 19: Woman arrested for abandoning JetBlue at the airport
- Feb 22: Officially adopted by Officer Black and family
A Perfect Match
The adoption represents what the LVMPD called a "full-circle moment." Officer Black wasn't just any applicant — he was among the officers directly involved in JetBlue's rescue at the airport. And he'd already been approved for a goldendoodle adoption months earlier, making him the ideal permanent placement.
"Bon voyage, Jet Blue, and welcome to a new life where you'll be loved beyond words by Officer Black and his family," the LVMPD said in announcing the adoption.
A Community That Cares
The LVMPD expressed gratitude for the overwhelming community response: "The outpouring of support from our community throughout this situation has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped ensure this pup received the care and compassion he deserved."
💝 Why This Story Matters
JetBlue's story is about more than one dog finding a home. It's about 2,400 people who wanted to help. It's about an officer who was already on the path to adopt before fate intervened. And it's a reminder that sometimes the universe has a plan — even for airport dogs.
From abandoned to adored. Welcome home, JetBlue. 🐾
